Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways that affects more than 22 million Americans, including approximately 6 million children. Risk factors for asthma include family history of asthma or atopic diseases, history of eczema or history of seasonal allergies.

MinuteClinic can provide evaluation and education to undiagnosed asthmatics who may be experiencing recurrent symptoms. We can also help diagnosed asthmatics with management of the disease through monitoring and coaching.

What to expect at your visit

1 Sign in at the electronic kiosk to see a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. No appointment necessary.
2 Your practitioner will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms and perform an examination, which may include spirometry.
3 We’ll review and explain your exam results and discuss a treatment plan.
4 We'll give you a visit summary and send it to your primary care provider at your request.

What to know before your visit

  • Service is not available in Massachusetts.
  • Patients who are younger than 7 years of age or older than 65 will be referred to another care setting.
  • Patients who are pregnant will be referred to another care setting.
  • Patients with moderate to severe asthma symptoms such as wheezing or shortness of breath will be referred to another care setting.
